Laboratory Exercise
on The Ear
In these two exercises we'll look at two of the most complex organs in the course. Sight and hearing are two of the five senses common to most mammals, and in some species they are far and away the most important means of gaining information about the environment. Both are most useful at long range. This is especially true of the sense of sight; animals with good vision can detect predators or prey at very long distances. Those animals with an acute sense of hearing can also count on "early warning" of danger if the predator makes recognizable noise.
