OBJECTIVES FOR THIS EXERCISE: After completing the exercises on the cardiovascular system, you should be able to:

Recognize cardiac muscle in longitudinal and cross section in light microscopic preparations.
Identify the Purkinje fibers of the myocardium.
Identify microscopic sections of different classes of arteries and of veins of various sizes.
Identify venous and cardiac valves in light microscopic sections.
