1. Tree with grayish-brown bark, may reach height of 100 feet

2. Onset time is approximately 12 hours
3. Horses standing in and possibly ingesting bedding containing walnut shavings. An allergic-type reaction occurs causing swelling of the coronary band, edema of the legs and lower areas of the horse's body. Laminitis often results, giving rise to unwillingness to move. Can also see depression and respiratory difficulties.
1. Remove from bedding immediately
2. Wash horse's legs with mild detergent
3. Treat laminitis- may use Phenylbutazone
